On the ground, the reality for the vast majority of South Africans is one of absolute helplessness. Crime seems to be exploding across all communities with very little being done to address the root causes; lack of real opportunities, unemployment and dysfunctional societal development structures. These deficits create a fertile environment for criminal syndicates and increased criminal activity. And while our brave SAPS members fight crime diligently every day, they also need help from real patriots/community members through organised groups like Community Policing Forums (CPFs).

CPFs are the eyes and ears on the ground and are very effective in helping the SAPS with information and reports crucial to anti-crime initiatives and operations. In our interactions with CPF members, security company personnel and the SAPS, we have found that there is no realtime and centralised Incident Alert submission and reporting mechanism for CPF members. CPF members and security personnel frequently use WhatsApp groups or other social media platforms which is limited to only those who are part of these informal groups. It is for this reason that we have taken the initiative to develop the Special Community Co-operation Network (SCCoN247), connecting South African patriots.

SCCoN247 will give CPFs/authorised users:

→ A Dedicated, Realtime Incident Submission, Alert and Reporting tool
→ Custom Functionality (consultation process with CPFs/Security Companies, etc.)
→ A Central Incident/Crime Information Repository
→ District, Cluster, Provincial and National Reporting Framework
→ Total Data Protection (Personal Information WILL NOT be sold to third parties)
→ A link to other South African Patriots across the country

In addition to the App, there will be a supplementary website for the public at large to view valuable information about Anti-Crime Initiatives and Operations, their outcomes and statistics from the SCCoN247 App. The website will also have Sponsor Information, Upcoming Events, News, Special Offers and a host of other features.

SCCoN247 will be FREE to CPF members/authorised users ensuring 24/7 participation. The App development, updates and maintenance costs will be covered by patriotic businesses, community organisations and individuals through a series of Sponsorship options.

Connecting South African Patriots

Phase one of SCCoN247 will connect Community Policing Forum (CPF) members across the country allowing them to submit critical information including and not limited to suspicious activities, crimes in progress and crimes committed related to each crime category.

Phase two will connect registered security companies, emergency services, mall management, property managers, business chambers/forums, schools and hospitals across the country.

Phase three will connect vetted City Improvement District (CID) representatives and business people in areas that are considered high crime hotspots and key business hubs.

Phase four will connect other community organisations (after consulting with SAPS and relevant community stakeholders).

There will be a registration process via a dedicated website. Only vetted and approved CPF members will be uploaded onto the platform.

*No CPF member can join the platform by just downloading the app.

Submissions and Alerts:

→ When an incident is submitted for a category (eg. Hijacking), information is populated and realtime Alerts will be sent to all CPFs.
→ Alerts sent first to all CPFs in the area/district.
→ Alerts sent to all CPFs in surrounding districts (allocated as clusters).
→ Sent to all relevant stakeholders, relevant participants and authorised personnel.
→ For certain categories (eg. Kidnapping), Alerts/Info will be disseminated nationwide.

Information Segmentation and Analysis:

→ Geographic Location (location of crime)
→ Cluster Relevance (eg. Accidents might not be disseminated to the cluster)
→ Severity of Incident/Crime Committed
→ Outcomes (may include SAPS Case Numbers)
→ Review Processes for safety and/or training purposes
→ Tracking of suspects/victims/stolen property across clusters, provinces or nationwide
→ Lists (eg. recovered items or weapons at crime scene)

Alert Updates:

All incidents will have a dedicated Alerts Page with functionality for CPFs/Users to submit updates related to incident/suspects/victims/action taken by authorities, etc.

→ CPF Activity - District Reports (Weekly or Monthly)
→ Incident Reports (Follow Up/Outcomes) - District, Cluster, Provincial and National
→ Category Reports - District, Cluster, Provincial and National
